John Lewis & Cambridge Style Week Bloggers Event

I was lucky enough to be invited to the exciting John Lewis and Cambridge Style Week blogger event on Sunday morning. It was the perfect opportunity to meet other bloggers, catch up on the latest CSW happenings and learn more about the new S/S lines in John Lewis. If you’re not yet familiar with CSW, I’ve explained all the deets in a previous post- here.

The morning commenced with a lovely breakfast in the brassiere, before shop opening hours, where we were treated to some yummy pastries and drinks of our choice. Each table was neatly decorated with a display of beautiful accessories and I was really impressed with how enthusiastic the staff were about hosting their first bloggers breakfast.

We were introduced to the Fashion Advisory department where specialists offer their expert opinions to men and women seeking style advice. The service is free of charge, just remember to book in advance, and consists of a one to one consultation to learn more about what suits your body shape, colouring and, most importantly, how to feel confident. The suite is private and spacious to ensure your experience feels like a real treat.

The collections presented to us by John Lewis included ranges from JL Weekend, Kin, Mint Velvet, Ghost and Alice Temperley. I was particularly interested in viewing the pieces as, although always my first port of call for beauty products and accessories, I often tend to bypass the clothing department in John Lewis with the assumption that they’re tailored towards a more mature clientele. However, I was pleased to hear they stock ranges from brands such as Mango, Oasis and Ted Baker which are likely to appeal to younger consumers.

The outfits being showcased all incorporated some of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer. The striped patterns, kick-started by Marc Jacobs throughout Fashion Week, really caught my eye and are set to be one of the most prominent trends for the new season. The Kin collection, focusing on minimalism and wearable designs, is almost contrasted with the JL Weekend range which offers an array of bold prints and bright colours; both of them containing elements of upcoming trends. The tasteful Alice Temperley ‘Somerset’ range, exclusive to John Lewis, brings together classic, feminine prints with ice-cream shades and statement pieces. The stylish range will feature on the CSW runway at the Best of British Gala event.

Thank you to John Lewis and Cambridge Style Week for such an enjoyable morning, and of course for our lovely gifts.

What do you think of the JL SS13 collections?
