As I had last Saturday off work, my boyfriend and I got up bright and early and set off for London, along with two of our friends. We thought it would be nice to do something cute and Christmassy as the festive season is fast approaching *eeek* so as none of us had been to Winter Wonderland before, and it was their opening weekend, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to go.
We spent the morning browsing (dragging the men around) the beauty aisles in Selfridges and having a little wander along Oxford Street before heading to T.G.I. Friday’s for some lunch. I went for the ribs, which were ah-mazing, and the brownies for dessert which were equally delicious. After our yummy lunch we hopped on the tube and headed for Winter Wonderland, situated in the beautiful Hyde Park.
The place is bursting with things to do and see and you could easily spend the whole day there getting lost in the loveliness of it all; just remember to wrap up warm as it does get rather chilly! We spent some time exploring the cute market stalls before making our way to the Magical Ice Kingdom which we had pre-booked tickets for. We had fun looking at all of the ice sculptures but I’m not sure it was worth the £9 so I think I’d opt for ice skating if we were to go again or just spend the day soaking up the festive atmosphere. Entry is completely free so you can have a stroll around and enjoy the festiveness without spending a penny. To get in from the cold we decided to have a drink in one of the bars and the boys chose a warm spiced cider drink which was actually quite tasty. After some fun acting like big kids on the fairground rides, and rediscovering my fear of roller coasters, we warmed up with a Galaxy hot choccie and made our way home.
There’s endless food and drink stalls and loads of entertainment on offer so I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re a lover of all things Christmassy. Here are some snaps from the day…
